How long does it take to have a web site on the internet?

Once we begin the design process with our customers completed web sites are usually finished and up on the web within 5 business days. We immediately register the domain name and set up the web hosting on a server, so email can be up and running within minutes. The finalized web site is then completed for our customers usually within the next business week.

Once I sign up, what happens next?

Once you sign up with us the set-up process begins. We register your domain name and set you up on a web server. At this point you will have full email capability using an address at your domain name within the first business day – usually within minutes. Then we begin the design process with our customers. We conduct a phone interview that lets us know more about our customers and their unique business. This allows us to custom-design a web site completely tailored around their unique company. You can pick the images, colors, layout, features, etc. Then we will work with you in the next few days to get everything to your liking. We like to have our web sites completed within about 5 business days for our customers.

What methods of payments do you accept?

Cash. Cash is good. We also accept all major credit cards, e-checks, checks, money orders, Comcheks, T-Checks, etc. If it is money, then we will find a way to accept it. Our credit card payments and e-checks are processed by PayPal, an industry leader in payment processing for the web. We will email you an invoice for the amount due with a link in it to pay securely with PayPal using a major credit card or e-check with your checking account. You do not have to have a PayPal account to be able to pay using this service. You may also mail us a check or money order if you would like to pay that way also. As a vendor who deals almost exclusively with the transportation industry we are set up to be able to take Comcheks and T-Checks as an alternate means of payment.

What is Web Hosting?

Web Hosting is providing a computer that acts as a “server” for your web pages and is connected to the internet. When someone types your URL (www.yourtruckingcompany.com) into a browser's address bar, then they are directed to your server, which is hosting your company's web pages.

What is a Domain Name?

A domain name is the address, or URL, someone types into a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, to access a web site. An example of two domain names are: yourtruckingcompany.com and yourfreightbrokerage.com.

If I have a form on my web site, is the information submitted on a secure server?

As an add-on to a basic web-site, we sell what is known as a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) Certificate. This is a way for data to be transmitted securely from someone accessing your web site through a browser and the server hosting your web pages. This is important if you have a form that asks for personal information, such as a driver application where you would ask for names, date of birth, drivers license, address, etc. This way you protect the personal information they enter. A secure web page will have an address that begins with “https://”, with the “s” meaning secure. You will also see a lock on the bottom of the browser which means data will be sent back and forth over an encrypted connection.

Where will my server be located?

Currently our web servers are located in a secure, managed, co-location facility in Dallas, TX. The co-location facility provides a physical site for web servers to be wired directly in to the internet backbone for a faster, more-reliable connection. The location has fire-prevention and fire-suppression technology built in to the building and is connected to generators in case of a power failure in the area to maintain maximum up-time for our servers.

What is the uptime of your web servers?

I've never seen a server down before. Technically we are supposed to say 99.9% uptime because there is always the small possibility of something happening, but really we are virtually always up and running. Our servers use RAID technology which means we have redundant hard drives in use that mirror each other's data. If one hard drive goes down, then the other one picks up and runs where the other left off. Our facility is a secure, managed facility with a staff on-site 24/7 to assure maximum uptime and minimum problems.

How can I contact someone with your company?

Hi. My name is Steve Allen and I am the company. You can email me at “steve.allen@18wheelwebsites.com” or you can call me on my mobile phone at (405) 494-1188. I am based in Shawnee, OK and have been in the trucking and transportation industry for more than 15 years now. I became interested in web design and web applications development back in 1998 and started studying as a hobby during long hours alone in a dispatch office (Thanks, Canal Cartage!). Once I became knowledgeable in HTML, PHP, MySQL and AJAX, I decided to venture out on my own and take what I know about the industry I love and add that to my hobby to make a living designing web sites for truckers and freight brokers.
